The second Art of Nursing Webinar, in partnership with Foundation of Nursing Studies, to showcase how nurses and artists can work together
The Art of Nursing the Planet is our second Art of Nursing Webinar. These webinars are in partnership with Foundation of Nursing Studies and showcase how nurses and artists are working together to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our webinars fit into your busy life, designed so that you may listen on the go or join us whilst you take a moment, and we have a fire side chat
Our webinars are engaging hour-long fire side chats (no slides allowed), bringing interesting people and innovative ideas together to show what is possible and how the arts help us deliver sustainability. Five people - nurses, artists, and activists - come together to share their work and inspire others into action.
As nurses we recognise the deep connections between human health and the health of our planet. We see the climate crisis as a health crisis and social justice issue, and therefore know it is our professional and moral duty to act.
Climate health and emissions reduction are complex issues that require nuanced, evidence-based solutions, and a change in personal behaviours and political policy are needed.
We also know that whilst we care for those suffering from the impacts of climate change, we as the health sector are also part of the problem. We are a major contributor of harmful emissions.
Nurses are very good at changing people’s minds and challenging unhelpful behaviours at individual and societal levels. To address the climate crisis, we as nurses need to raise awareness, challenge deeply held beliefs (our own and others) and create common ground for conversations and collaborative actions.
The arts help. The arts have always been a way to enable people to see things differently, come together on common ground, and create new ideas.
Join us to hear how we are working with patients and partners in health and in the arts and using the arts to address climate crisis. Together we are nursing the planet!
- Hear from the RCN artists and team about the exhibition You Mean the World and the activities nurses may become involved in.
- Hear from Hospital Rooms about how specific climate focussed art projects are changing thinking and even changing where people sit in the hospitals.
- Hear about the Queens Nursing Institute Gardens programme and how one nurse got into a television programme as a climate activist character causing some drama in a GP Surgery.
