This workshop will enhance the skills of nurses working in primary care using dopplers, interpreting results and utilising appropriate bandaging techniques.
By the end of this workshop participants will:
- Be able to provide a simple explanation of the doppler effect and how it is used to determine arterial flow.
- Be able to explain the correct procedure in calculating an ankle brachial pressure index (ABPI).
- Be able to articulate issues that can lead to inaccurate readings.
- Understand the importance of interpreting results and onward referral.
- Have had the opportunity to practice a Doppler test to measure ABPI. Be able to select the appropriate bandaging techniques.
- Have the opportunity to practise bandaging under supervision.
