Dee Sissons said:
“I am honoured to be elected to this role by my colleagues on Council. Nursing continues to face challenges and they are ones we are determined to meet.
“With health and care at the top of the national debate and the political agenda I am determined that the voice of nursing is heard at the very highest level.
“We will continue to fight to ensure this continues and will stand our corner for nurses and nursing to improve their working conditions and employment rights.
“As we head toward the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife the RCN will keep up the pressure as we campaign to ensure nurses, wherever they work, are able to provide safe and effective care for all of their patients.”
