    Nurses supporting social care staff and residents鈥 wellbeing through gardening and gardens

    The Elsie Wagg Innovation Scholarship funded by the Queen鈥檚 Nursing Institute and the National Garden Scheme gave us the opportunity to deliver a project that showed the positive effects of gardening on the health and well-being of social care staff and residents. Additionally, the project emphasised the role of nurses in health promotion and helping people to live and age well. Furthermore, it showed how we found a common ground in gardening, which created a meaningful connection between my nursing colleagues, social care staff, residents and I.

    Listening event on the Hughes report publication

    The Hughes report follows a review by Baroness Cumberlege (鈥楩irst do no harm鈥 2020), commissioned by Mr Jeremy Hunt when he was Health Minister, that separately reviewed outcomes of three historical health interventions - pelvic mesh, sodium valproate & Primodos. One of the outcomes from the Cumberlege report was to appoint a Patient Safety Commissioner who would take forward the recommendations from the Cumberlege review.

Bullying is a common phenomenon for nurses, with around a quarter of the nursing family experiencing bullying in the past year. This blog highlights my personal experience of 鈥済aslighting鈥 - a specific type of bullying, and how I am gradually recovering from this.
